Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) recently had its Inter-Battalion Athletic Meet - 2011 at Maligapitiya, Kurunegala with a record participation of more than 800 athletes representing some 34 battalions.
The overall championship in Track and Field events went to 5 SLNG athletes. Major General A.C. Abeysekara, Deputy Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Forces gave away the championship trophy and certificates to winners in the athletic meet. The Championship Trophy was received by Major A.S.P. Silva, Second-in-command, 5 SLNG on behalf of the athletes in the battalion.
