Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regiment on Saturday (18) showed their respect and appreciation to a gathering of SLLI-produced former Army Chiefs and most Senior Officers, now in retirement after inviting them to the SLLI HQ with their spouses for a cordial get-together.
The project, the brainchild of Major General Mahinda Mudalige, Colonel of the Regiment, SLLI and Commander, Security Forces - West included a musical evening plus a sumptuous dinner arrangement at the SLLI Officers’ Mess.
Retired Senior Officers, including General Shantha Kottegoda, former Commander of the Army and Secretary Defence, General Daya Rathnayake, former Army Commander and currently the Chairman, Sri Lanka Ports Authority, former Colonels of the Regiment, SLLI, spouses, together with the incumbent Colonel of the Regiment, Centre Commandants and Senior Officers joined the occasion.
The project symbolized the respect and high regard the SLLI has for those veterans who contributed tirelessly to the growth of the SLLI and the Army in general.
