SLLI Completes Its RHQ ‘Dagoba’ Project

Enshrinement of omniscient sacred relics of the Buddha and the unveiling of the newly-placed pinnacle atop in the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) - built pagoda at the SLLI Regimental Headquarters premises at Panagoda took place on Friday (5) at the auspicious minute.

A simple religious ceremony, preceded by chanting of ‘Gini Piritha’ and ‘Jala Piritha’, the previous evening (4) ensured relic caskets, engraved silver plates and other symbolic sacred items were enshrined inside the relic chamber of the Dagoba. 

Supply of raw materials as well as labour and financial assistance for its construction were provided by officers and other ranks of the RHQ-SLLI.

This project was conducted under the guidance of Major General Amal Karunasekara, Colonel of the Regiment, SLLI and the close supervision of Brigadier M.M Kithsiri, Centre Commandant, Deputy Commandant, Colonel G.M.N Perera and the sheer commitment of Lieutenant Colonel T.N.K Perera.

Troops in the Engineer Service Regiment (ESR) contributed to this meritorious act by constructing it.
