SLEME Seva Vanitha Donates House to Dead Soldier's Family

SRI LANKA Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) Regiment Seva Vanitha Unit succeeded in donating a complete house to the next of kin of a SLEME soldier who recently died of cancer.
 
Private I.U. Gunawardena (S/2M00746) of 2 SLEME unexpectedly passed away leaving behind members of his family who had been depending on him for survival.
 
Mrs. Chandrika Perera, President SLEME Seva Vanitha Unit who was the live-wire behind the house construction project built the new house at No. 75, Temple Road, Udavalawe and recently handed it over to the relatives during a simple ceremony. Mrs. Perera delivered the deed and the key of the new house to the soldier’s wife after lighting the traditional oil lamp.
 
SLEME Regimental Commander, Major General W.G.M.U.R. Perera, Senior Officers, Other Ranks, Seva Vanitha members and a large gathering of villagers attended the occasion.
