SLEME at Gannoruwa Supports Presidential Task Force Programme on Drugs

Troops of the Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) Training School at Gannoruwa gave their active cooperation to the ‘Compassionate Government-a Stable Country’ national programme of the Presidential Task Force, aimed at turning Sri Lanka into a drug free nation as declared in the President’s election manifesto.

The project in that connection for Central Province got underway at Getambe grounds in Kandy on Wednesday (11), attended by Ministers, senior officers of the armed forces and Police, state officials, students and civilians. Major General T.J Nanayakkara, General Officer Commanding, 11 Division represented the Sri Lanka Army and contributed to the event.

More than 9000 participants from 20 Divisional Secretariats in the Kandy district gathered there to attend the programme. Lunch to all the attendees was provided by the troops in the SLEME Training School at Gannoruwa.
