SLEME Commitment Puts Unserviceable Vehicles Back on Track

Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) Regiment’s project for repair of unserviceable Army vehicles succeeded in putting 15 tractors, 6 trailers, 6 trail bowsers, 2 light vehicles and 1 heavy vehicle back on wheels under the Phase - 3 in the ongoing SLEME project, saving a fair sum of money to the organization.

5 SLEME troops, based in Saliyapura Anuradhapura on the directions of Brigadier P.S.R.L Rajakaruna, Director, Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (EME) undertook the challenge of repairing those vehicles and trailers under the Phase - 3 of the ongoing SLEME project for making unserviceable vehicles fully functional due to the dedication and commitment of the 5 SLEME Commanding Officer and all ranks at the 5 SLEME Headquarters.

Earlier, Project - 1 and 2 launched elsewhere several months ago succeeded in bringing a fleet of about 15 - 20 unserviceable Army vehicles back on track due to professional skills of SLEME personnel.

The re-launch of those vehicles belonging to the Security Force Headquarters – Wanni (SFHQ-W) on Sunday (16) after repairs took place in a simple ceremony at 5 SLEME camp in Saliyapura, attended by Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Forces - Wanni as the Chief Guest at the invitation of the Director, EME.

Those repaired vehicles with a warranty period could now be used by the SFHQ-W for various purposes, so said the Wanni Commander on the occasion after delivering a brief speech.

Brigadier P.S.R.L Rajakaruna, Director, Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (EME), Lieutenant Colonel J.M.R Jayasinghe, Commanding Officer, 5 SLEME, officers and other rankers were present during the ceremony.
