SLBC to Train Army Personnel for Compéring

Sri Lanka’s most prestigious and premiere home for broadcasting, Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), in response to a request of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crisanthe De Silva has offered its expertise to train a batch of 25 potential Army personnel for public compéring duties during Army events.

Conduct of the 32-day training course, devised by the SLBC, in coordination with the Directorate of Media of the Army inaugurated this morning (24) at the SLBC auditorium during a brief ceremony. The training course is attended by 25 Army personnel, keen on learning techniques of announcing on stage.

Basic contents of the course cover a wide assortment of subjects, such as History of Electronic Media, Art of Announcing, Microphone and Technology, Art of Documentary Presentation, Art of Radio Language and Announcing, Art of Presenting Commercials, Information Gathering, Writing and Editing, Anchoring and News Reading, Presenting of Live Programmes, Correct use of Parlance and Grammar, Voice Training, Radio Program Production, etc.

The course, comprised of lectures from both SLBC and outside experts, offers students with practical and theoretical knowledge and trains them for possible eventual requirements, too in the event of any social or formal events.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Mr Nanda Muruththettuwegama, Chairman, SLBC, Mr Erananda Hettiarachchi, Director General, SLBC, Mr Thilina Samarasooriya, Director Training and Foreign Relations and Ms Thushari Welagedara, Additional Director.

Representing Director Media of the Army, Colonel Manoj Lamahewa, Colonel Media at the Army Directorate of Media and the Staff Officers attended the inaugural ceremony.
