SLAVF Sports Meet Inaugurated

THE annual Inter Regiment sports meet of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) was ceremoniously inaugurated this morning (28) at the Sugathadasa Stadium.

Over 1000 male and female Army sports men and women representing 104 volunteer battalions participate in almost all track and field events while vying for the Championship during this annual sports event, generally held continuously for three days. 

The sports meet commenced after setting ablaze the Olympic Torch by a sportsman and a sportswoman after the Deputy Commandant SLAVF Major General Amitha Abeysekara, Chief Guest of the occasion, and other Senior Officers hoisted the National flag, Army Flag and SLAVF flag respectively.

The opening ceremony was attended by a large crowd of Army personnel including Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks. 

Final competitions and award ceremony of the meet will be held on 30th at the same venue.
