SLAVF Outgoing Commander Given Formal Salute


A formal salute and a parade, held at the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) Headquarters at Salawa, Kosgama said goodbye to the outgoing SLAVF Commandant, Major General S.A.P.P Samarasinghe on Monday (19).

Major General Samarasinghe who was appointed the new Chief of Staff at Army Headquarters was to take over his duties on Tuesday (20).

The day’s program at the Headquarters premises of the SLAVF Kosgama commenced with the reviewing of the Guard Turnout accorded to the outgoing Commandant on arrival to the venue. He was received by Major General W.D.L.P Wickramasinghe, the Deputy Commandant and Brigadier W.A.N.M Weerasinghe, the Principle Staff Officer. On the request of the Parade Commander Captain M.D.J Chandrasiri, the Chief Guest inspected the Guard of Honour accorded to him by the Military Intelligence Corps. Lieutenant K.A.C.P Kamalawarna and Warrant Officer 1 H.D Saman Kumara were Parade Second in Command and Parade Warrant Officer respectively.

A large gathering of senior Officers and soldiers attended the occasion included Centre Commandant Sri Lanka National Guard, Liaison Officers and Colonel Coordinating Officers.
