INTER-REGIMENTAL RUGGER Tournament of Sri Lanka Army continued at Sri Lanka Army grounds in Army Headquarters from 1st February 2010 to 3rd March 2010 with the participation of male and female teams from different Regiments of Sri Lanka Army.
The tournament conducted on knockout basis consisted of 36 matches for men and 12 matches for women. Among the Regiments participated in it were Armor, Artillery, Signal, Light Infantry, Sinha, Gemunu, Gajaba, General Services, Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Services Ordinance, Guard Battalion and Women’s Corps.
The Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya was also present to watch the finals on Wednesday (3) in spite of his busy schedule and distributed trophies among the winners.
Sri Lanka Army Services Corps emerged champions of the men’s tournament beating Sri Lanka Army General Services Corps scoring 22 to 11 and the 3rd Battalion of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps became champions for the Women’s tournament defeating 6th Battalion of the Women’s Corps scoring 10 to 5.
