Singaporean Philanthropists Put Up New Educational Buildings &;amp; Gift Computers

SINGAPORE-BASED ‘Maha Karuna’ Buddhist Foundation, headed by Ven. Dr. Gunarathane Thero, Religious Advisor with the support of Dr. Bishop Saj Kim Nayo of Chen Shu Lan Education Centre, Singapore  has once again offered their  assistance to raise living standards of the resettled people in the North.

Those Singaporean donors constructed two buildings and established a new computer centre for the benefit of children in Mathawaittakulam area in Vavuniya where newly resettled people are living.

This project was carried out with the support of the Army on the instructions of Commander, Security Forces, Wanni Major General Kamal Gunaratne. The new computer centre facilitates Advanced Level students of all major communities to gain knowledge under experienced teachers.

Approximately, 1500 students including Advanced Level students with their parents, District Secretary for Vavuniya Mrs P.S.M. Charles, 56 Division Commander Brigadier N.A.P.C Napagoda, 211 Brigade Commander Colonel Jagath Rathnayake and a large number of military and government officials were present at the occasion.

Foreign delegates from Singapore present on the occasion appreciated the commitment of the Sri Lanka Army and the Government for their roles for the uplift of the standards of resettled people. The same organization on previous occasions made several more donations and conducted medical clinics, etc.

Meanwhile, ‘Thisarana Sarana’ Foundation, led by Ven Yatirawana Wimala Thero donated computers to the students of schools in Nedunkerny, Kanagarayankulam and Omanthai.

Sri Lanka Army’s 56 Division Commander Brigadier N.A.P.C. Napagoda coordinated the arrangement trough SFHQ - Wanni.
