Several formations celebrated the dawn of the New Year on January (01).
Security Force Headquarters – Mullaittivu (SFHQ – MLT) organized an all-night Pirith Chanting and an alms giving on the instructions of Major General P.U.S. Vithanage, Commander, SFHQ – MLT.
The Commander, Forward Maintenance Area - Mullaittivu (FMA-MLT), General Officer Commanding (GOC), Brigade Commander, Commanding Officer, senior officers, officers and other ranks participated in the event.
Meanwhile, national and SFHQ flags were hoisted on 1 January symbolizing the first working day of the year. Reading of the Army Commander’s New Year message and the State allegiance oath took place.
Finally, on account of the dawn of the New Year, the SF Commander visited the inmates at the Army Base Hospital, Mullaittuvu.
Meanwhile, an entertainment programme, a Bodhi Pooja at Mankulam Temple and a Pooja at Amman Kovil, Iranamadu were organized at the Security Force Headquarters – Kilinochchi (SFHQ - KLN) on the directions of Major General Amal Karunasekara, Commander, SFHQ – KLN.
The SF Commander together with staff officers, the GOC, 57 Division, Commander, FMA, Brigade Commanders, senior officers, officers and other ranks participated in the event where National and SFHQ flags were hoisted. Reading of the Army Commander’s New Year message and the state oath also took place.
After an all-ranks tea party, the SF Commander visited the inmates at the ABH- Kilinochchi and distributed gift parcels among them.
Meanwhile, a similar programme was launched at the Security Force Headquarters – Central (SFHQ – C) to coincide with the New Year under the supervision of Major General A.K.S.Perera, Commander, SFHQ – C.
The SF Commander together with senior officers, officers and other ranks participated in the event where National and SFHQ flags were hoisted, Reading of the Army Commander’s New Year message and state oath were by Brigadier K.M.D.A.A. De Silva, Brigadier General Staff (BGS) SFHQ - C.
After an performed all-ranks tea party, the SF Commander visited the inmates at the ABH- Diyatalawa and distributed gift parcels among them.
Meanwhile, another programme launched at the Security Force Headquarters – Wanni (SFHQ – W) to mark the dawn of the New Year took place on the supervision of Major General M.H.S.B. Perera, Commander, SFHQ – W.
The SF Commander together with senior officers, officers and other ranks participated in the event where National and SFHQ flags were hoisted, Reading of the Army Commander’s New Year message and the State oath were done.
The 121 Brigade under the SFHQ – C too celebrated the dawn of the New Year.
Colonel B.M.J. Balasooriya, Brigade Commander, 121 Brigade together with all officers, other ranks, militarized Engineer troops and civil servants participated in the event where National and SFHQ flags were hoisted, Reading of the Army Commander’s New Year message and the State oath were done.
The 53 Division commenced the year with milk pot boiling tradition and hoisting of the flags including other traditional events.
Major General M.A.M. Dias, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 53 Division, senior officers, officers and other ranks participated in the all-ranks tea party.
Afterwards, troops of the 53 Division joined a ‘Shramadana’ Campaign held at the Inamaluwa Temple.
