SFHQ – Kilinochchi Commemorates its 9th Anniversary

A Pirith chanting ceremony organized by the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi on Friday (22) invoked blessings on the 9th Anniversary of the Security Force Headquarters – Kilinochchi. On the directions of Major General Niyshshanka Ranawana, Commander, Security Forces – Kilinochchi the anniversary events get underway with the conduct of a colourful procession to welcome monks participating.

A colourful ‘Perahera’, comprised of dancers of the cultural troupe, at first conducted members of the Maha Sangha to traditionally crafted Pirith chanting octagon.

The Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi in keeping with ancient traditions, afterwards offered the tray of betel to members of the Maha Sangha, inviting them to commence their chanting until the following morning (23).

Troops on the following morning offered alms to Maha Sangha and concluded the ceremony. General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, many Officers and Other Ranks participated in the religious ceremonies.

Meanwhile, a special Hindu Pooja, held at Iranamadu Kankagambigai Amman Kovil on Sunday (31) morning invoked blessings on the 9th anniversary of the Security Force Headquarters –Kilinochchi.

On the same day, all officers at the Security Force Headquarters attended an Islamic religious prayer session at Jumma Mosque in Kilinochchi.

Those religious programmes invoked blessings on military personnel and merits on those who sacrificed their lives for the motherland and those still receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, a Catholic Mass organized by the troops of the Security Force Headquarters Kilinochchi at St Theresa Church, Kilinochchi on Thursday (5) invoked blessings on the 9th anniversary of the Security Force Headquarters- Kilinochchi.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in this event.

Towards the end of the day’s commemorative programme, a mega musical evening entertained all the ranks Friday (6) evening.

‘Arrow Star’ musical group and ‘Dash’ dancing team added thrills and a display of fireworks stunned the troops enjoying rhythmic music beats. More than 400 military personnel serving the SFHQ-KLN enjoyed the musical evening.

Major General Niyshshanka Ranawana, Commander, SF-KLN graced the event as the Chief Guest along with Senior Officers serving the SFHQ - KLN.
