SFHQ-West Troops Save Tank Bund from Breaching

Troops of the Security Force Headquarters-West (SFHQ-West) avoided a major disaster when they prevented a possible breach of a tank bund in Puttalam District on Monday (16).

Due to the inclement weather that prevailed, the water levels of Ma- Eliya Tank at Battaluoya area in Puttalam District had risen drastically, and a small section of the tank bund had been breached.

Realizing the impending disaster if the tank bund was breached completely, 30 troops of the 26 Gajaba Regiment (GR) under the 143 Brigade quickly rushed to the location and placed 400 sandbags preventing further damage to the tank bund on the directions of the Commander, SFHQ-West.
