Security Forces Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) after the 54 Division Headquarters, brought to the notice of the death of a poor civilian, made all arrangements to bring the remains from Colombo to his house at Vedithalathivu on October 4 at Army’s expense.
The poor family, affected badly due to the loss of their beloved one while under treatment at Colombo National Hospital, found it difficult to spend a colossal sum for transportation of his remains back to Vedithalathivu home and decided to seek the Army assistance for it since it was the wish of the family members.
With the directions and support given by the SFHQ-W, the 54 Division facilitated the transport of the corpse back to their residence in Mannar from Colombo.
In addition, 54 Division troops provided meals to the inmates and visitors on all two days until the funeral took place on Saturday (6).
