SFHQ-KLN Fights War Against Drought


Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) has been in the practice of distributing water to drought-hit people in Uluwanur, Milawanapuram, Kumaraswamipuram, Mulankavil and surrounding areas, served by the SFHQ-KLN.

Using bowsers of the SFHQ-KLN, all Divisions, Brigades and Battalions of the SFHQ-KLN continue to provide water as the drought persists, making civilians badly affected with water scarcity for drinking and other purposes.

Meanwhile, 57 Division Headquarters of SFHQ-KLN with the patronage given by Hidramani Industries (Pvt) Ltd, distributed water tanks among worst-affected civilians by calling them to the 4 Sri Lanka National Guard Headquarters. Those plastic water tanks were meant to store water, being supplied to them by the Army.

In the meantime, on Saturday (23), a large consignment of 5 litre drinking water bottles, sponsored by Mr Rukman Gunatillake, Chairman, Gem Producers Association of Ratnapura were distributed among 200 affected families following initiatives, taken by 65 Division and 651 Brigade serving the SFHQ-KLN.

Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, SFHQ-KLN, together with Rev. Fr. Ananda Kumar, Mr I.M Cassim, Provincial Councillor, Grama Seva Officials, village leaders and representatives of Rural Development Societies and Sports Clubs, attended the event. Under the programme, civilians living in Mulankavil, Jayapuram South, Nachchikuda, Irana Mahanagar, Paliyaryankaddu and Kariyalangadduwar, were given those relief items.
