SFHQ -Kilinochchi Launches Awareness Programmes on AIDS & Explosive Devices

Troops of 5 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) serving under the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) in collaboration with Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) launched awareness campaigns on Friday (04) to educate Armed Forces, Police and the general public in Kilinochchi area on AIDS to coincide with the World AIDS Day which fell on 1 December each year.

The Awareness Programme comprised of two session was organized as the morning session for civilian population and the afternoon session for members of the Tri Services and Police under the guidance of Major General Amal Karunasekara, Commander SFHQ-KLN.

Dr. Sathya Herath, Consultant Community Physician of National STD/ AIDS control programme in Sri Lanka conducted these two sessions of the awareness campaign on the same day.

Several hundreds of participants including members of the Tri Services, Police and Civilians participated in the event.

In the meantime, troops of the 9 Field Engineer Regiment serving under the same SFHQ conducted a lecture to educate the members of the Tri Services, Police and Civilians on unexploded explosive devices on the same day.

A large gathering including members of the Tri Services headed by Deputy General Officer Commanding of 57 Division, Police and Civilians listened to the lecture.
