The finals of the Inter Battalion Football Championship of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) was held at the 5 Sri Lanka Army Ordinance Corps (SLAOC) playground on Thursday (8).
The tournament was a initiated on a concept of the Commander, Security Forces – Jaffna (SF-J), Major General Dharshana Hettiarachchi to improve sportsmanship of Officers / Soldiers and develop mutual cooperation among them.
522 Brigade, under the guidance of 52 Division organized the tournament and 10 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) and 16(V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) teams were qualified for the finals out of 24 competing teams.10 VIR team beat 16 (V) VIR footballers for 2-0 to secure the Championship.
Major General Dharshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, SF-J graced the finals as the Chief Guest and awarded the trophies and certificates to the winners and team.
