SFHQ-E Troops Conduct More Community Services

Troops of the 221 and the 222 Brigades under the 22 Division of Security Force Headquarters East (SFHQ-E) conducted more community programmes including drinking water distribution and awareness programme for the benefit of villagers in the SFHQ-E area in the past weekend.

22 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) distributed 240 water bottles of 5 liter among 40 drought affected families in Selwanagar Divisional Secretariat area in Trincomalee District. Similarly 8 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) troops distributed 500 water bottles of 5 liter among drought-hit people at Aluthoya, Mahamorakanda, Hathreskotuwa and Galoya junction with the financial assistance of the Buddhist TV channel and Sambodhi Viharaya, Colombo on Sunday (24).

Troops of the 27 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) meanwhile provided drinking water to 250 drought-hit families at Ilangathurai and Karakamunai villages in Trincomalee District on Saturday and Monday (23 and 25). On Wednesday (27), the same troops distributed drinking water and dry ration packs among drought affected people at Mahindapura.  Troops who facilitated the villagers to conduct a ‘Perehera’ before placing a new ‘Buddha’ statue at Mahindapura temple.

2 Gajaba Regiment (GR) troops in the meantime conducted a ‘Shramadana’ campaign to clear the surroundings of Thillinagar bus stop in Trincomalee on Saturday (23).

Meanwhile, 5 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) troops assisted the conduct of an employment selection programme for benefit of the unemployed in Trincomalee area with the assistance of NMK (Pvt) Ltd at Kattaparichchan on Sunday (24).

In the meantime, 222 Brigade conducted a special lecture on ‘Harassment of Women and Child Abuse’ to women organizations in the Serunuwara area, together with the Divisional Secretary, Serunuwara and Police at the Serunuwara Divisional Secretariat on Friday (22).
