The 23 Division-organized Flag Blessing ceremony jointly with the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) at Mangalaramaya, Batticaloa on Thursday (6) on account of the forthcoming 69th Army anniversary and the Army Day (Oct 10) was attended by Major General Santhusitha Pananwala, Commander, Security Forces – East.
General Officer Commanding, 23 Division, Brigadier Chula Abenayaka and 231 Brigade Commander, Brigadier Senarath Niwunhella were instrumental in organizing the event. A representative gathering of Officers and Other Rankers serving in the SFHQ-E, Forward Maintenance Area - East (FMA-East) and the 23 Division took part in event.
Members of the Maha Sangha, headed by Ven. Ampitiye Sumanarathana Thero, Chief Incumbent at Mangalaramaya, Batticaloa chanted ‘Seth Pirith’ and invoked blessings on flags of the SFHQ-E, FMA-East, 23 Division, 231 Brigade, 232 Brigade, 233 Brigade and all other under command Battalions.
The religious observances also transferred merits to all fallen War Heroes and invoked blessings on injured Army personnel and those who are serving in the Eastern region as well as members of Army families.
