SFHQ-E & SFHQ-C Celebrate 69th Independence Day

Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) in Welikanda and other formations in the East separately celebrated the 69th Independence Day at respective places last Saturday (4).

Commander, Security Forces-East (SF-E) together with all troops serving the SFHQ-E started the Independence Day celebrations at the Headquarters premises by raising the National Flag and recital of the National Anthem. Fallen War Heroes were then honoured observing a two-minute silence.

To coincide with the Independence Day celebrations, troops joined hands together to clean Welikanda Railway Station and Hospital premises during Shramadana campaigns organized under the guidance of Major General Darshana Hettiarrachchi, Commander, SF-E during Feb 2 - 4.

Troops cleaned and removed garbage and all other unwanted elements in the surroundings of the Railway Station and Hospital premises. A total of 3 officers and 105 other ranks attended those events.

Meanwhile, troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) marked the Independence Day at the SFHQ-C premises, Diyatalawa on Saturday (4).

On the instructions of Major General P.U.S Vithanage, Commander, Security Forces - Central (SF-C), the programme to mark the National Day was held at the premises.

Hoisting of the National Flag and recital the National Anthem, followed by a live telecast of HE the President’s speech occurred during the day.

In the meantime, troops cleaned up the road stretch from Diyatalawa Y junction to Haputale town as a community project on the previous day (3).
