SFHQ-E Launches Multiple Community Projects


Separate Shramadana (self-help) arrangements, distribution of water among drought-hit civilians and dry ration relief packets are continuing to take place in the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) responsible areas.

Shramadana campaigns to clean surroundings around Kumburupiddy Siththi Vinayagar Kovil, Trincomalee, Perumaweli Tharavi Sri Vinayagar School in Koraleipattu, Navachcholai Pre-School, Nilaveli Public Library, Trincomalee, Kanguveli Pre-School in Muttur, Kudumbimalai Kumaran Vidyalaya, and a few other public places were respectively carried out by the troops of 2 Gajaba Regiment of 221 Brigade under 22 Division, 8 Sri Lanka National Guard of 232 Brigade under 23 Division, 6 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment of 221 Brigade under 22 Division, 5 Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment of 224 Brigade under 22 Division and 8 Gemunu Watch, together with 12 Gajaba Regiment under 231 Brigade of 23 Division in succession during the past one week.

Distribution of water bottles, dry ration packets and other relief items among drought-affected families was separately conducted by 8 Gemunu Watch, 27 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG), 11 SLNG, 8 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) and 4 Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC) and 22 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops serving under 231 Brigade, 222 Brigade and 242 Brigade under the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) in the past couple of days.

Meanwhile, troops of the 231 Brigade, adding further strength to the religious harmony placed the stature of Mother Mary in an Army-built grotto in the Aiyattamalai Church and opened it on Saturday (6) as per directions of Bishop Ponnaiah Joseph. 231 Brigade Commander together with civilians in the area attended the occasion.

In the meantime, Brigadier K.L.A.S Wijesinghe, Brigadier General Staff, SFHQ-E on Saturday (6) delivered the closing address at the passing out of the course followers in the 4th Basic Computer Course for officers and clerks. The course was initiated on 12th August 2014 by Major Genera Lal Perera, Commander, SFHQ-E.
