Troops serving at the Security Force Headquarters –Wanni (SFHQ – W) organized an all-night Pirith chanting ceremony under the guidance of Major General Boniface Perera, Commander of SFHQ-W on account of the 17th anniversary of the Security Force Headquarters in Vavuniya on Friday (20).
Religious observances including an all-night Pirith chanting ceremony were conducted by 15 Buddhist priests, headed by the Chief Prelate Mirisavetiya temple Ven Ethawetunuwewa Gnanaratana Thero after they proceeded to Prirth Mandapaya in a colourful procession, comprised of traditional dancers.
The religious ceremony culminated after offering Ataprikara and ‘Heel Daana’ on the following morning, followed by invocation of blessings on serving troops and transferring merits to fallen War Heroes.
General Officer Commanding (GOC), Commander Forward Maintenance Area, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and a large number of Army personnel attended the religious ceremonies.
