Mrs Bikram Singh, President, Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) of the Indian Army and the spouse of  the Indian Chief of Army Staff, now in Sri Lanka on a five-day goodwill tour, was accorded a warm welcome by Sri Lanka’s sister organization, the Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) at Colombo Galadari Hotel on Thursday (20).

Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President, SVAB at the entrance to the Galadari Hotel received the visiting Mrs Bikram Singh cordially and conducted her to the hall where a gathering of SVAB invitees had assembled to welcome her.

After a brief welcome speech, Mrs Singh through a detailed multi-media presentation on multifaceted SVAB projects, meant for the welfare of Army families and disable War Heroes, received a comprehensive picture and entertained her to a few eye-catching dancing performances, organized by the SVAB.

During interactions at the hotel, both Mrs Bikram Singh and Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya shared a couple of views with regard to own welfare projects in both organizations and exchanged pleasantries. Visits of the spouses of Indian Army personnel, recent arrival of children of Indian Army families in Sri Lanka, etc were among a few thoughts they shared with each other.

Towards the end of the SVAB reception programme, Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya thanked Mrs Singh for her presence there and presented a token of memory on behalf of the SVAB before her departure.
