Over eighty devotees observing ‘Sil’ at Suwinitharamaya in Jayanthiweva, Sripura Divisional Secretariat on Nikini Full Moon Poya Day were provided with Sil clothes and alms, thanks to generosity, extended by Mr K. V Aravinda, Sales Promotion Manager, Lankem Pvt Ltd at Vavuniya.
In addition, the same donor gifted a water filter, worth about Rs 5000 to the temple on the same occasion.
Meanwhile, the same philanthropist offered free supply of cement to build the footpath at Sinhapura Rajamaha Viharaya. On the same day, the same social worker donated an electric water filter, worth some Rs 35,000 to the Sripura Government Hospital for the use of inmates in hospital after those requirements were brought to his attention by 62 Division Headquarters.
Coordination of these gestures was done by the civil affairs office of 622 Brigade Headquarters on the directions given by Brigadier G. J. L Waduge, General Officer Commanding, 62 Division. Donation ceremonies were attended by a large gathering of devotees, Civil Affairs Officers of 62 Division and 622 Brigade Headquarters and a few senior officers.
