JAFFNA: HAVING being informed of the presence of a few suspicion persons in KODIKAMAM area, JAFFNA 522 Brigade troops conducted a special search in the area Wednesday (24) morning.
As the troops were passing IYATTALAI area around 8.00 a.m., troops observed one suspect hiding himself behind a bush and attempting to throw a hand grenade towards the troops.
However, alert troops instantly opened fire at the suspect and killed him on the spot.
Subsequent information revealed that the suspect killed by the troops was a senior Tiger cadre, named SALAPPAN.
Later, troops recovered one micro pistol, two hand grenades, one mobile phone and Rs. 6100/- in cash along with the dead body.
