Major General K.I Abdulkarim, Chief, Department of Doctrine and Combat Development, Headquarters Training and Development Command of the Nigerian Army with 4 more Senior Officers arrived in Sri Lanka on 19 June 2019 for a three-day visit in order to learn and share past war experiences against the LTTE and the application of the Army doctrine in respective contexts.

'Sri Lanka and Terrorism', 'Sri Lanka Army Organisation', 'Eelam Wars 1,2,3,4' and 'Peace Processes of Sri Lanka' were among major topics that were taken up for discussion during the sessions. Lengthy discourses and verbal explanations during the discussions soon after each presentation placed the delegates in the right scenario clearing their doubts and queries.

Brigadier Nishantha Herath conducted the comprehensive presentation on the conduct of the operations against the LTTE while highlighting lessons learnt in the three decade- prolonged conflict. The Nigerian delegation showing a keen interest actively participated in sharing their similar experiences in Nigeria.

During the discussions, the visiting Nigerian delegation spoke high of the Army victory over LTTE terrorism and discussed strategic and operational challenges encountered by the Sri Lanka Army in overcoming those challenges.

Major General K.I Abdulkarim admitted that they are faced with an identical scenario in the North Eastern region of his country. The two-day programme, hosted by the Commander ARTRAC on behalf of the Commander of the Army included a Sri Lankan cultural spectacle, presented by performers in the Directorate of Army Band and Performing Arts.Running sneakers | Shop: Nike
