Secretary Defence Visits "Ranaviru Nikethanaya" Welfare Project, Dialog Telekom Donates Rs. 25M

SECRETARY Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksa visited the newly constructing "Ranaviru Nikethanaya" at Aththidiya this morning, 29 October.

"Ranaviru Nikethanaya" is yet another welfare project of the Ministry of Defence for the disabled security forces personnel. The "Ranaviru Nikethanaya" will provide shelter for permanently disabled war heroes.

Each disabled war hero will be provided with an air-conditioned room, internet facilities, Television and a pantry with essential kitchen appliances, an official of the project said speaking to defence.lk.

The project is solely implemented under the donations of patriotic Sri Lankans and the donors while the construction work is undertaken by the Sri Lanka Army Engineers corps.

During the visit, Secretary Defence was presented with a cheque worth of 25 million rupees by Dialog Telekom, a leading mobile telecommunication service provider in Sri Lanka, as a donation for the project.

The cheque was officially handed over by Chief Executive Officer of Dialog Telekom Dr. Hans Wijesooriya.

Major General Wasantha Kumara, Brigadier Prasad Samarasinghe, Brigadier Dudley Weeraman, Mr Dilith Jayaweera and a few other officials were also present during the visit. (Courtesy: MoD)
