Secretary Defence, Together with Commander Goes to Wanni & North on Fact Finding Visit

A high-level delegation of the Ministry of Defence and the government was in Vavuniya, Kilinochchi and Mullaittivu on Saturday (13) with a view to exploring possibilities for release of more and more lands, hitherto being used by the Security Forces.

Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi, Secretary Defence, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Army, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, Commander of the Navy, Air Vice Marshal K. Yahampath, Director Ground and Operations, Air Vice Marshal C.P Welikala, Director Administration, Ms Wasantha Perera, Additional Secretary to Ministry of Defence, and Mr S. Arumainayagam, District Secretary for Kilinochchi, Mrs R. Ketheshwarie,  District Secretary for Mullaittivu and Mr T. Udayarasa, Additional District Secretary for Wanni on arrival respectively at Wanni, Kilinochchi and Mullaittivu Security Force Headquarters on Saturday (13) were welcomed by respective Commanders before discussions got underway at provincial levels. 

Afterwards, the visiting delegation in the company of District Secretaries, Additional Secretaries and state officials went to see exact locations where such lands are being used by the Security Forces in Wanni, Kilinochchi and Mullaittivu areas.

Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi, Secretary Defence placed his signature in the Visitors’ Books at all three SFHQs as memories of his visit.

Meanwhile, as the final leg of the tour to the North Secretary Defence, Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva together with Major General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) inspected the Keeramalai housing project.

Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, SF-W, Major General Amal Karunasekara, Commander, SF-KLN, Major General P.U.S Vithanage, Commander, SF-MLT and Major General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander, SF-J welcomed the visiting delegation in their respective premises.
