Troops of the 11 Division of the Security Force Headquarters- Central (SFHQ - C) during 29-30 June, conducted a workshop on Disaster Management and Search and Rescue Operation duties at the 1 Sri Lanka Army Rifle Corps (SLRC), Headquarters, Kandy for Officers and Other Ranks in Search and Rescue Operation teams.
The opening address was delivered by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 11 Division, Major General Nisshanka Ranawana on Thursday (29). Around 15 Officers and 200 Other Rankers attended the two-day seminar and the workshop.
Special guest lecturers were also conducted by tri-service coordinators for Disaster Management, Brigadier, Deepal Wanniarachchi, Deputy Director, Training and Education, Mrs Sarangi Vithanage and Assistant Director of the Kandy Disaster Management Centre, Mr Indika Ranaveera.
Participants attending the workshop were enlightened on measures that should be adopted in the event of a disaster, evacuation and rescue of victims, immediate relief measures and post-disaster measures, etc.
At the end of the seminar, certificates were awarded to the attendees.
