Seafarers Among Confirmed Positive- NOCPCO

By this morning (16), a total of 74 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Among them 06 are expatriates (2 sefares at Mount Lavina QC, 1 sefarer at Habaraduwa Police QC and other 3 expatriates from UAE at Mullaittivu QC). Other 68 persons were locally-identified close contacts of Minuwangoda garment factory-infected employees, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

By 6.00 this morning (16), the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory is 1791. Of them, 1,041 are factory employees and other 750 are locally-identified close contacts of the garment factory-infected employees.

By this morning, the flight UL 607 from Australia arrived with 12 passengers and all of them were sent to the tri forces-managed Quarantine Centres after PCR tests.

Within the day (16), 397 quarantined individuals after PCR tests are set to leave for their homes. Of them, 36 persons are from Jetwin Blue QC, 12 persons from Jetwing Sea QC, 01 person from Hotel Dolphin QC, 142 persons from Hotel Mount Lavinia QC, 05 persons from Diyagama QC, 110 persons from Citrus Waskaduwa QC, 41 persons from Kandakadu QC, and 50 persons from Brandix Punani QC.

To-date, 53,011 individuals have left for homes after quarantining. As of this morning (16), 9,556 persons in 84 tri-service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within yesterday (15), 6543 PCR tests were carried out across the country and the total PCR tests conducted so far stands at 365,859.
