Reverse Osmosis Plants to Provide Drinking Water in Rare Mega Project

Solving one of the most vital requirements of the troops serving the Jaffna peninsula, 7 Water Treatment Plants, more commonly known as Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants were handed over to the troops in 7 military formations in the Jaffna peninsula during a ceremony, attended by Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna on Tuesday (26).

Those treatment plants were manufactured by the Sri Lanka Navy. 12 more RO plants are under construction for the benefit of the troops in the Jaffna peninsula following a request made by the Commander of the Army to the Navy.

The programme launched by the Commander, Security Forces – Jaffna (SF-J), Major General Darshana Hettiarrachchi expects to expand the project to all other areas.

Training Schools of 51 Division and 52 Division and 6 SLSC, 4 VIR, 2 MIC, 10 (V) VIR, and 15 SLNG Battalions are benefited under this programme.

Senior Army Officers and Soldiers took part in the event.
