Retiring Major General Keppitiwalana Honoured in His Mother Regiment

Ambepussa-based Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) Regimental Headquarters on Tuesday (13) in a fitting military ceremony bade farewell to one of its most prominent Senior Officers, retiring Major General Duminda Keppetiwalana after an exemplary service of more than 35 years in the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army.

The farewell ceremony commenced with a customary Guard Turnout honour upon his arrival at the entrance to the Headquarters before he was warmly received by Lieutenant Colonel Subhash Siriwardena, Deputy Centre Commandant. A subsequent Guard of Honour in honour to the outgoing Senior General of the SLSR followed afterwards and Brigadier Ajith Pallewela, Centre Commandant, SLSR accompanied the day's Chief Guest to the special dais to receive the salute.

Giving due recognition to the memory of all fallen War Heroes, he also placed a wreath and saluted them at the SLSR War Heroes' monument. An All Rank tea arrangement at the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants' Mess afterwards enabled him to refresh memories with all those who were present as another formality. The day's itinerary included a farewell lunch, hosted in his honour, together with all Officers in the Regiment at the Officers' Mess.

Major General Duminda Keppetiwalana in his farewell speeches at the Warrant Officers' and Sergeants' Mess and also at the Officers' Mess paid a glowing tribute to all SLSR personnel for the support they extended for fulfillment of his duties in the past 35 years. Presentation of a special souvenir to the outgoing Senior Officer brought the day's agenda to an end.

At the time of his retirement, he was the Director General Infantry at the Army Headquarters, in which he was able to introduce many new strategies for infantry battalions, particularly by conduct of new Exercises. His dedicated services and commitment to the cause brought him fame and admiration. His latest introduction to infantrymen was the scheduled, Exercise-Western Shield. He was enlisted to the Sri Lanka Army on 7 March 1984 as an Officer Cadet in the Intake 20 at Diyatalawa Sri Lanka Military Academy.

Family members, relatives, Senior Officers of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, including Major General Laksiri Waduge, Commander, Security Forces - Central, Major General Manoj Mudannayake, Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps, Major General A.M.R Dharmasiri, Director General General Staff, Major General W.A.K.B Udalupola, General Officer Commanding, 23 Division, Major General Deepthi Jayathilake, General Officer Commanding, 12 Division and a host of Senior Officers were associated with the event at the SLSR Headquarters.Asics shoes | Zapatillas de running Nike - Mujer
