Retiring Army Woman Soldiers & Families Assisted at Economic Front

Intending to uplift the economic standards of retired and potential woman retirees in the 5 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) and their families through agro-based self-employment ventures, an initiative was launched by the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) to provide them with bee honey collecting boxes in close coordination with the Retired Service Personnel’s Welfare Project (Agriculture) of the Ministry of Defence.

A brief ceremony to this effect was held on Monday (25) at the 5 (V) SLAWC Battalion Headquarters premises in Dalukana, headed by Mr Sunil Samaraweera, Secretary to State Ministry of Defence as the Chief Guest, together with Major General Aruna Jayasekara, Commander, Security Forces - East, Mr Ransilu Watawala, Director (Technology) of Ministry of Primary Industries & Social Empowerment, Mr Tissa Bandara of ‘Bingu Sampath Surakime Sanwidhanaya’, Brigadier Wanditha Mahinkanda, Brigadier General Staff, SFHQ-E, Colonel J.M.R.K Jayamanne, Commander, 232 Brigade and Major B.H.S Fernando, Commanding Officer, 5 (V) SLAWC.

The project was aimed at providing with an additional source of income to supplement the retirement benefits of these woman soldiers, and thereby acquire their contribution to the agro-economic development of the country. Nike air jordan Sneakers | New Releases Nike
