Republic of Korea Extending Cooperation Gifts Face Masks for Use among Troops & Health Workers

Expressing best of cooperation of the Republic of Korean people towards Sri Lanka’s fight against COVID-19 epidemic, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, HE Woonjin Jeong this morning (14) after meeting Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Head, National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army gifted a large stock of face masks for use among all island-wide troops and health officials, committed to the control of the resurgence of the epidemic.

The Ambassador recalling existing age-old bilateral understanding between both countries assured Republic of Korea’s fullest cooperation to Sri Lankan people at this critical juncture of the global crisis and expressed his happiness over his first visit to the new Army Headquarters.

The cordial meeting between the duo centred on the status quo as regards the transmission of the epidemic in Sri Lanka and elsewhere in the region and the world at large. The Ambassador also received a comprehensive account of the operational mechanism, set in place throughout the country as well as the ongoing quarantining practices in tri service-managed Quarantine Centres, introduced to Sri Lanka on a suggestion of HE the President of Sri Lanka. The diplomat commended the role of the troops and health workers and extended his greetings to all, engaged in control work at the expense of their own health.

Ms Kim Mikyeong, Second Secretary, Ms Charya Gamlath, Research and Public Relations Officer and Mr Ki Su Lee, a representative of the World Federation of Taekwondo, (Kukkiwon) and Taekwondo Master were also associated with the occasion.
