Religious Ceremony Held at Somawathi Temple Invokes Blessings on War Heroes

A RELIGIOUS ceremony was organized by the Security Forces Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E) at the historic Somawathi Raja Maha Viharaya in Polonnaruwa transferring merits to War Heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country’s territorial integrity and invoking blessings on those who are still serving, as a follow-up to the main being events held to celebrate Eastern SFHQ’s 6th anniversary that fell on 31st October.

The programme got under way at the historic Somawathi temple premises on 4th and 5th November on the instructions of the Commander SFHQ-(E) Major General Srinath Rajapaksa.

This religious ceremony included the offering of Buddha Pooja on Wednesday (04) evening and alms giving to Buddhist clergy in the morning and at noon the following day (05).

Brigadier Administration and Logistics SFHQ-(E) Brigadier E.M.M Ambanpola, Colonel Administration and Logistics Colonel R.L.C Fernando and a few senior officers, officers and soldiers were present on the occasion.
