A recruit of Special Forces (SF) under training in the general area of Habarana succumbed to injuries after he collided with a night train while engaged in a compass training module during early hours of Saturday (31).
The Recruit, H.W Kumara together with a few others under training was continuing with his target finding training using a compass when he met with this accident and received injuries after he was knocked down by the train. Fellow soldiers under training rushed him to the Habarana Hospital, but he succumbed to injuries a few hours later.
On being informed of the tragic incident, the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake immediately directed the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) to cooperate with the Habarana Police station and to provide all assistance for onward investigations and actions.
