Troops serving 533 Brigade Headquarters in Ratgama, Galle organized a commemorative Pinkama plus a Vesak Dansela on account of Vesak festival on Full Moon Day (24).
Members of the Maha Sangha invited to the inauguration of the Dansela on Vesak day morning invoked merits and blessings on War Heroes both alive and dead. The Dansela started off after lighting the traditional oil lamp.
More than 3000 Vesak sight-seers enjoyed meals served jointly by 1 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI), 4 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) and 6 Battalion SLSR troops.
Brigadier M.M. Kithsiri, 533 Brigade Commander, together with several other distinguished invitees in the area lit the traditional oil lamp and commenced the Dansela which served meals, beginning forenoon on Vesak day.
