Racing Gains Ground in Sevanagala


Amidst a large gathering of racing enthusiasts, ‘Walawe Supercross-2013’, the exciting racing event held for the 3rd time stormed the Craftmen Aerodrome at Sevanagala, Udawalawe last Sunday (07).

This year’s event received further teeth when organizers, together with Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Club (SLMCC), lined up 27 events, including twelve motor car and fifteen motorbike events and two exhibition events for the day.
 
Organized by Sri Lanka Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) Regiment, the event has received the fullest blessings of SLMCC while  Army Motor Sports Committee (AMSC), supported by participating drivers and riders for the event, making it to be of international standards.
 
Deputy Chief of Staff attended the inauguration as the Chief Guest. Commander, Logistic Command, Colonel Commandant, SLEME, SLMCC President Mr Ananda Jayasekara and several others were present at the inauguration.  

The newly-built track of about 1.5 km in length, provided an ideal venue to drivers and riders to test their machines without any restrictions prior to the final grand events.
