Proposed 'Wellness Resort' Continues to Receive Generous Assistance

THE PROPOSED Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) spearheaded Anuradhapura “Wellness Resort”, a residential complex for rest and recreation of disable soldiers and their families continues to receive further teeth as more and more donors and philanthropists worldwide were lending their helping hand.

The concept, mooted by Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya is to be a reality soon at a ten-acre land allocation, made by the government in response to the Army’s request for assistance. The surveying of the land has already been done and the architectural approval has been sought from local authorities.

The SVAB has already launched several multi-pronged fund-raising projects in this connection after the inaugural Fashion Show at Mount Lavinia Hotel several months ago. From that show, a total of sum of about Rs 1,844,557/= has been collected out of the full sum of Rs 3 million.

In addition, the Sinhala Businessmen’s Peramuna Vanitha Ekamuthuwa has promised to donate Rs. 1,500,000/= from the proceeds of the forthcoming ‘Evening Star’ musical show.

The veteran architect, Vinod Jayasinghe has offered his voluntary service for preparation of the building plan for this worthy project.

The SVAB acknowledges following financial donations with a deep sense of gratitude as of today (23rd January 2010) and assures them that the project was to be made a reality as soon as possible.
