Productive Meeting at 54 Div Discusses Speedy Resolution of Civil Administrative Issues

 

Concerns, related to provision of security to places of archaeological value, resolution of land issues, administrative hurdles and overall efficiency, etc were taken up during a specially convened meeting at 54 Division Headquarters at Mannar on Tuesday (16).

The meeting, attended by Mrs A Stanley de Mel, Assistant District Secretary for Mannar, Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni (SFHQ-W) and a host of senior military officers and state officials, explored possibilities of further promoting good relations between members of the Security Forces and civil sector state officials with a view to speeding up of development programmes, designed for civilians in Mannar district.

During the course of these discussions, a series of innovative ideas, suggestions and plans, were produced by the gathering in relation to conduct of civil affairs, security and welfare programmes. A special focus was made on measures, needed to be applied for conservation of the ancient Mannar Fort and other historic artifacts in the district.

Soon after the friendly meeting, Major General Boniface Perera accompanied by several state officials and 54 Division General Officer Commanding, undertook a tour to inspect several archaeological sites that deserve conservation and security in the area.
