Pop Icon Asha Bhosle Arrives; Rehearsals for Year's Mega Fund-Raising, 'Tharu Dilena Reyak' in Progress

As the countdown to the year’s dazzling musical extravaganza, ‘Tharu Dilena Reyak’, the fund-raising project of the Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) has now begun with rehearsals in full swing, Ms Asha Bhosle, the vivacious Indian Pop icon arrived in Sri Lanka early Wednesday (10) morning to a tumultuous reception.

Pop icon, Asha Bhosle and the Sri Lankan duo, Bhathiya and Santhush, accompanied by a galaxy of singing and dancing stars are to thrill the audience at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium on Friday (12) during scintillating performances, choreographed by veteran, Channa Wijewardena and the troupe.

Legendary Ms Asha Bhosle, a strong fan of Sri Lankan music and a true friend of Sri Lanka flew here to lend her voice to the last year’s SVAB’s maiden musical extravaganza that raised funds for the recently-opened first, ‘Abimansala’, the wellness resort for dependent disable War Heroes. On Friday (12) she, in the company of Bhathiya and Santhush, is to perform rhyming with several new hits, popular both here and in India.
 
Ms  Bhosle and the troupe on arrival at the Colombo International Airport were warmly received by Bhathiya and Santhush who coordinated her visit to Sri Lanka.

Several visuals, posted below show how popular dancing stars like Nilanthi Dias were in rehearsal as of Tuesday (9) morning, just days before the grand spectacle goes on the boards.

The SVAB, spearheading the ‘Brave Hearts’ project is actively engaged in the construction of Wellness Resorts (Abhimansala) to house some three hundred dependent War Heroes, remain permanently disable for the rest of their lives after injuries received in the recent battle for peace. The first of such centres for rest and recreation was ceremonially opened on 26 July at Anuradhapura by His Excellency, the President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the invitation of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya.
