Peripheral Fighting Kills More Terrorists

MULLAITTIVU: TROOPS in VISUAMADU and MULLAITTIVU areas confronted pockets of LTTE terrorists on Sunday (5) as troops were concentrating on the final clearing operations surrounding the No Fire Zone in PUTHUKUDIRIPPU.

     Fourteen terrorists including six females lost their lives during those confrontations. Troops later on collected those dead bodies, thirteen T-56 weapons, one I-com set, one satellite phone, four Arul bombs, four hand grenades, one claymore mine, one Global Positioning System (GPS), one Bajaj Boxer motor bike, one LMD Freedom 110 motor bike and one 1.5 KVA generator.

     In the meantime, troops in PUTHUKUDIYIRUPPU west conducted a search operation and recovered two hand grenades, one belt order, one pair of boots and two helmets on the same day (5).
