Paralympics Silver Medalist Returns Home to a Tumultuous Reception

The retired Sergeant Dinesh Priyantha Herath of 3 Gajaba Regiment (GR) who won silver in the most recent London Paralympics – 2017 in Men’s Javelin Throw - F46 event returned home this morning (26) to a tumultuous reception at Colombo Bandaranaike International airport.

Brigadier Anura Sudasinghe, Director Army Sports with several senior Officers and officials of the Ministry of Sports was at the airport to warmly welcome the Silver medalist who brought honour to the country. A brief procession, preceded by the Gajaba Regiment western band welcomed him and conducted him out of the airport premises.

This is Sri Lanka’s third Paralympics medal. In 2012, Corporal Pradeep Sanjaya of the Army won a Bronze medal in men’s T46 and a Bronze by Corporal Priyantha who competed under the same category in 2016.
