Pakistan - Sri Lanka Armed Forces Join Annual ‘Staff Talks’

The 4th round of Staff Talks between the Armed Forces of Pakistan and Sri Lanka concluded on Saturday (23) at the Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC), Regimental Centre in Panagoda with representatives of both organizations agreeing to continue their bilateral cooperation in future too.

The six-member Pakistan Army delegation for the annual talks, led by Major General Hafeez Ur Rehman was received by Brigadier Prabath Dematanpitiya, Director, Army Directorate of Information Technology (DIT) at the main entrance to the Corps of Signals.

A few minutes later, Head of the Pakistan’s delegation was formally welcomed by presenting a Guard Turnout before the delegates, were conducted to the Regimental Headquarters where Major General Ajith Wijesinghe, Colonel Commandant, SLSC and Chief Signal Officer (CSO) of the Army warmly received them to the home of the Corps of Signals.

Nearly 18 Signal Officers, including Chief Signal Officer, Major General Ajith Wijesinghe, Director General of the Research Analysis Projection and Development Branch Major General Renuka Rowell, Director IT, Brigadier Prabath Dematanpitiya, Signal Brigade Commander, Brigadier Thilak Waidyaratne, IT Specialists of the Sri Lanka Army, Senior Officers from the Headquarters of the Chief Signal Officer and other Senior Signal Officers representing the Sri Lanka Army joined the annual ‘Staff Talks’ with visiting Pakistan’s delegation.

During the sessions, both parties discussed possibilities available for sharing of professional understanding and mutual interests between both organizations, smooth improvement of Cyber Security measures in the Sri Lanka Army with the support of expertise knowledge, new IT techniques and their impact on security, etc.

‘Staff Talks’ was inaugurated in 2012 to promote professional and mutually-beneficial relations between both Armed Forces through direct and open exchange of facts on matters, pertaining to the future prospect of military applications.

During their stay here, the Pakistan delegation separately called on the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Staff of the Army and the Chief Signal Officer.

Major General Hafeez Ur Rehman of the Pakistan Army is the Director General Command, Control, Communication, Computers and Intelligence Directorate at the General Headquarters.
