Pakistan Army Volleyball Team to Meet Sri Lanka Army & SLAVF Counterparts

Under the ongoing exchange programme of sports teams that came into effect on the directions of the Commander of the Army, the Volleyball team of the Pakistan Army arrived in Sri Lanka on Friday (27) night for a series of friendly matches with their counterparts in the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) and the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF).     

The Pakistan Army team will challenge the SLA team on Sunday (29) at the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) indoor courts at Ambepussa, witnessed by many distinguished guests.

On Monday (30), the visiting 15 member team as an invited group will participate in the SLAVF Inter Regiment Volleyball Tournament at Panagoda and afterwards at National Youth Council courts at Maharagama during May 31-June 3 where the semi finals and finals would be played.

Brigadier Devindra Perera, Vice Chairman Sri Lanka Army Volleyball Committee, together with several senior officers were at the Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport to warmly welcome two senior officers and 15 member team on arrival in Sri Lanka late Friday (27) evening.

The much-awaited match between the players in the SLA team and the Pakistan team is to be watched by Major General Boniface Perera, Chairman, Sri Lanka Army Volleyball Committee as the Chief Guest on Sunday (29). The visiting team will leave for Pakistan on June 4.
