Pakistan's Army Chief at SLMA Gifts Horses for Training Purposes


Symbolizing the continuing goodwill and cooperation between the Pakistan Army and the Sri Lanka Army, General Raheel Sharif, Chief of the Army Staff of Pakistan Army on Saturday (06) afternoon gifted eight horses of high breed to Diyatalawa Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) for training purposes during a simple ceremony at the SLMA premises where he graced as the Chief Guest.

Those horses are for use to enhance the knowledge of budding SLMA officers on equestrian skills as part of their training modules.

On arrival at the SLMA, the visiting Army Chief was welcomed by Major General Mano Perera, Commander, Army Training Command (ARTRAC) and Brigadier R.W.W.A.D.B Rajaguru, Commandant, SLMA. A Guard Turnout saluted General Sharif at the SLMA entrance.

Pakistan Army Chief soon after entering the SLMA premises, was ushered to lay a floral wreath at SLMA War Memorial and paid his respects to the fallen.

Later on, a Guard of Honour, presented by Officer Cadets of SLMA saluted the visiting Pakistan Army Chief.

The gifted horses were formally accepted by Brigadier R.W.W.A.D.B Rajaguru, Commandant, SLMA.

Several SLMA officers from the Army Headquarters and the SLMA witnessed the official handover ceremony. Exchange of plaques culminated the occasion.

Towards the end of the programme, the visiting Army Chief afterwards took time off to speak to a section of the SLMA Cadet Officers before he participated in a luncheon treat.
