Overwhelming Public Support Offered to 'Abimansala-2' Ground Preparations

Grateful members of the public in and around Kamburupitiya-Wilpita where the Army’s south-based wellness resort, ‘Abimansala-2’ is to be erected, assembled in their hundreds on Saturday (31) and profusely offered their labour in a massive ‘Shramadana’ campaign for preparation of ground work in the project.

The self-organized ‘Shramadana’ campaign, following an initiative taken by Mr Gunasoma Wanigasekara, proprietor, Akuressa Nandana Tea Factory, together with many Buddhist monks, local community and businessmen, continued throughout the day and ridded the whole project site of all unwanted garbage, heaps of soil, decayed tree branches, perimeter rubbles while one more segment of the public helped the Army constructors with ground preparations.

The public in the area around the time of foundation stone-laying early this year too, showed an exceptional warmth towards the project and voluntarily put up various decorations on their own along both sides of the road that lead to the project site.

The ‘Abimansala - 2’ is to take care of about 50-75 south-based dependent War Heroes for the rest of their lives and the new complex is to be funded through the ‘Brave Hearts’ project of the Seva Vanitha Army Branch.

The concept of those wellness resorts, mooted by Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, is ably supported by Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President, Seva Vanitha Army Branch and her organization.
