NORTH: ARMY troops engaged in search and clear operations in the general areas of CHUNDIKULAM, PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU, THAKKULAM and THANDIKULAM recovered four claymore mines, fifteen electric detonators, seven Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs), thirteen 60mm mortar bombs, seven hand grenades, four Multi Purpose Machine Gun (MPMG) links, eighteen rounds of 12.7 mm ammunition, one night vision, three Our Board Motors (OBM), seventy-two LTTE pots, three hundred rounds of MPMG ammunition, one empty MPMG ammunition box, one thousand and thirty-five rounds of T-56 ammunition, nineteen 81 mm mortar bombs on Friday (4).
Meanwhile, Special Task Force (STF) troops recovered eight hundred and sixty-six anti personnel mines from ALANKULAM area the same day (4).
In the meantime, one land mine weighing about 20kg, three T-56 weapons, four T-56 magazines and one hundred and seventeen rounds of T-56 ammunition were recovered by the Police from ERAVUR, BATTICALOA.
