Over 3000 Army Personnel Learn More on ‘Professional Career’

One more educative awareness programme for a ‘Contended Army Life’ organized by the Directorate of Psychological Operations got underway on Monday (13) at the Colombo Convention Centre.

This one-day programme assembled a total of 199 Officers and 2862 other ranks under one roof on the directions of the Commander of the Army who maintains that the well-being of Army personnel and contentment of their professional conduct, should always be preserved and fostered all the time while alerting them to social evils and adverse surroundings.

Programme sessions were conducted by Brigadier A.S.M Wijewardene on ‘Secrets for Long Life’, Colonel R.M.M Moneragala on ‘A Life Free from Drugs’, and ‘A Successful Married Life’. Colonel R.M.M Moneragala was assisted by members of the Army Mental Health Unit. Lectures also focused on use of alcohol and tobacco, immoral conduct, etc.

Directorate of Army Band and Performing Arts added colour to the sessions by staging a couple of street drama acts to educate the participants in the sessions.

This gathering, one of the biggest in the Army, was made possible thanks to the support, extended by the Directorate of Training and Directorate of Army Medical Services.

Brigadier A.S.M Wijewardene, Director Army Medical Services, Brigadier G. V Ravipriya, Director Training, Brigadier M. D Wijesundara, Director Psychological Operations and senior officers were also attended the occasion.
